    Self medicating with alcohol

Thank you so much for this response. I really appreciate it. It's easy to feel so alone as if no one else had ever suffered the same pain when I'm keeping everything inside. It's nice to hear that other people understand and that my pain is as common as dirt. It is a comfort to not be unique in...

Finally ready to call it a SUCCESS!

Thank you for sharing. It is helpful to those of us struggling. The success stories are important to hear and it's valuable service to come back to share them.

    Self medicating with alcohol

Thank you for your reply. I am not a writer, but thanks for the compliment. I will fill out my bio some. I find that speaking with others directly like this helps more than just reading. Important to be heard as well as to hear. It can feel very lonely otherwise. I have accepted that my life...

    Self medicating with alcohol

Thank you for the encouragement, it means a lot to me. I have thought of your words over the past week. I've noticed that often my flare ups happen when I'm trying to baby myself. For example, I went and got a back massage. Flare up. Did some stretching and old PT exercises from last year...

    Self medicating with alcohol

I have struggled with chronic pain issues on and off for about 7 years. 2 of those years were really bad. That was the time my pain became debilitating and I became hopeless. I lost all joy in life and just wanted it to be over. In addition to chronic pain I've struggled with drug and alcohol...

    on the brink, last try

I really feel everything you're saying. Over the two years that I've been working with tms approach I have felt "healed" at times and also frustrated at times. It is not a linear progression for me. Just this morning I collapsed a little bit in pain as I felt the familiar pelvic/lower back pain...

    Tailbone pain

So I had really terrible tailbone pain for about 6 months and today I have none at all. I have not had any for over a year. I believe I either got a very powerful placebo cure, or else I really did have a physical rather than emotional cure. I just don't know ether way but wanted to share my...

    discouraging visit with TMS doctor

I wanted to give an update since writing this for anyone who may find one useful. I attempted to edit the original post, but I can't figure out how to do it so I will just do it as a reply. It is just about a month since I posted this, and I've been doing much better! It is almost certainly due...

    discouraging visit with TMS doctor

Interesting, I hadn't heard that one. I also found out from my searches about college basketball star Isaiah Austin whose pro career was cut off by a Marfan's diagnosis. He was 7'2 though (I'm 6'2). It is encouraging to me that he at least was in good enough shape to be playing college ball...

    discouraging visit with TMS doctor

I am a bit, thank you. Spasming has subsided, and I am back at work today, getting around ok. Still sore and a bit scared, as I usually get after an espisode like that. It takes me a while to build up confidence in movement afterwards but I am striving towards that.

    discouraging visit with TMS doctor

Thank you for the support. I've been feeling a bit better today, spasming has calmed down and back is just sore now. Hopefully can slowly get into more movement and build more confidence over coming days. I want to get past this Marfans thing, I'm really starting to think it's unlikely. I'm 6'2...

    discouraging visit with TMS doctor

Thank you for the kind words, I really do still think it's possible this is all tms. The timing is just too weird. One thing I didn't mention in my post is the reason I got a pelvic MRI is because I had months of severe pelvic pain while my back was feeling fine. So docs all tell me my pelvis...

    discouraging visit with TMS doctor

I like to think this is all true. I am so on board with accepting this sort of thing. It's just so devastating that the guy who helped write the book on tms, who has been working with tms for years examines me and says "hold on now, this might not be your problem at all." It really screws with...

    discouraging visit with TMS doctor

Thank you for your response. I am trying to remain optimistic. It really did not affect me too much mentally to hear all this and to be in this situation until I bent down and felt that old familiar twinge two days ago. I had been doing relatively well with low pain level lately, so I tried to...
