  • My Story

I was a long-distance runner for 40 years. Shortly after my retirement from teaching, on an early-morning run my lumbar area began to hurt. A few days later, I experienced a full-blown spasm of the lower back, requiring some major drugs to relieve. That was almost nine years ago, and I've had back pain ever since. I've managed to swim and bicycle some, but never to run. I've had physical therapy, received steroid injections at a pain management clinic, been hooked up to harnesses and stretched at a chiropractor's, taken several NSAIDs prescribed by my physician, and been advised by him to "talk to a surgeon." I recently discovered Dr. Sarno's books, and I'm hopeful!
