Dr. Sarno Documentary - Story of Pain

I am looking forward to seeing the trailer! Telling people's stories seems like it will be more genuine and moving. I'm curious, did you interview only Dr. Sarno or did you also speak with other TMS practitioners? It is exciting to see more and more practitioners further develop Dr. Sarno's work.

    Hello Everyone

Part of having healthy relationships with people is understanding that people are not perfect, but you also need to understand that your unconscious can have intense feelings of rage when you repress your emotions and explain away other's shortcomings. The key, which Dr. Sarno wrote about, is to...

New NYTimes article about Dr. Sarno's work:

This was interesting simply because the author, Tony Schwartz, wrote about TMS for, I think, the New Yorker in the 80s. The fact that he was able to use the TMS approach to overcome a relapse, so long after he first recovered, is a great testament to anyone suffering from a relapse themselves.

    Benign Fasciculation Syndrome and TMS

This reminds me of a blog post Howard Schubiner wrote a while back called Can Tics be Contagious. It focuses more on the Tourette’s outbreak that happened in a New York high school a couple of years ago, but really does show the power our minds have in creating neurological symptoms.

Steroid Injections For Back Pain No Better Than Saline, study

Great line, and the same can probably be said of Dr. Cohen's study. Steroid injections have been given way too liberally, and hopefully this study will help change how often they are prescribed.

Gluten and Celiac Disease and TMS

I think there is a difference between having a food intolerance and Celiac Disease. There are some food intolerance that are not caused by a structural issue and are predominately mind-body related. I would not, however, group Celiac Disease as TMS. The main key to TMS is that the symptoms are...

    My TMS recovery story

Congratulations! This is so inspiring to hear. Finding the answers is the hardest part. There are so many sources that tell us we have a structural problem. This only keeps you thinking you have something wrong with you and conditions you to expect pain. It is great seeing that you have been...

    My situation after 6 weeks

TMS treatment is not a linear process. Some days you will feel like you are not making progress, but if you continue to think psychological and do the work you will begin to see a reduction of your symptoms overtime. It takes time to reverse the conditioning that you developed, but it can be done.

    Mindfulness Acceptance

From reading through this is sounds like achieving this state of mindful acceptance is the ultimate goal of the TMS recovery process. Recovery does not involve never being stressed or never having unpleasant thoughts/feelings. Unpleasant and negative thoughts are simply a part of life. The aim...

Dr. Zafirides Letter to a Young Psychiatrist

Dr. Z, you blew my mind with this one. There are so many points brought up here. My favorite line comes at the end: In a word, half of what you know is true, and half false, and you don’t know which is which. If you know this, you know all you can now know—a good start.

How to Gain Confidence in Yourself

Isn't it!!!! It is pretty awesome to see someone to respond to this. I kind of forgot about posting this video. There are a lot of times when I see myself as not capable and think that I can't do something, but I have found that everyone is stronger than they think they are. Sometimes it just...

    Emotional Dysregulation & PPD

Both you of make excellent points. Ftaghn!, it is interesting that you brought up Alexithymia, because in Pathways to Pain Relief one of the causes of TMS is the failure to put emotions into words. Of course fibro, lower back pain, and somatization are common symptoms. It is all TMS. The...
