Another question for Day 16: Who have I told about my symptoms or starting this program?
I introduced Sarno and followers to my son years back when my pain became outsized. We both signed up to his beliefs but I was the only one with a myriad of painful symptoms. When I signed up for SEP, my son was, and continues to be supportive. He knows I spend time working the program each day.
I’ve also described the program to my therapist who whole-heartedly supports me. While a seasoned psychologist, he’s not specifically trained in TMS. You would never know it though as many of his teachings and insights mirror the concepts and cures. I initially sought counseling to deal with grief and the rage of aging. Pain quickly became a theme!
I think it’s healthy to be forthcoming to close family and professionals who have a need to know. Others, unless a trusted friend who understands mindbody, may not be as constructive.
