Went to doc (risky I know) but felt my power

Went to the doctor today on advice from my PT seeing something concerning in the fact that I was having pin-pricky tingling around my groin, a symptom of Cauda Equina Syndrome (compression of spinal canal). So I went, reluctantly, not wanting to jeopardize my progress in TMS.

Right out the gate I said, "Look, I have TMS. I have neuroplastic pain and believe that nothing is structurally wrong with me. I know there are some circuits in my brain that are misfiring, sending pain to my body when it no longer needs to. Are you on board with this idea?"

I felt some power saying this. I felt no pain either (that came back once I left the office but more on that shortly). He went on to treat me with respect for my education on the subject and we had a lively discussion about it. He got the mind/body connection (he was young, in his 40s) and agreed that tennis and all movement was good, not to baby my body even w/pain, and that he'd seen symptoms move and change. He did, of course, offer me some medical procedures that could be done and I swatted them away with a "Uh, no thanks." He understood the path that I was on and didn't press it. I felt even more power!

In the end, I decided I was going to ask him if he had seen folks with my shifting symptoms, and if they had healed. (It was risky for my brain to hear and witness, I know, but I was feeling like I knew the answer and could double down if he answered well He replied, "yes, i've see folks with your kind of symptoms, that change, and over time, longer than they anticipated perhaps, I've seen people fully recover."

I know that it was my TMS brain (doubt) asking the question, but I ultimately got more confirmation that there are TMS friendly docs out there who are willing to listen and believe that emotional pain is felt and processed in the same part of the brain as physical pain. Good job doc!

The pain did return shortly after my visit, but as I write this I do feel it, but I don't mind it as much. Because I've got you sucka!! You're days are numbered...
