Day 9 To be or not to be

Today’s question. Am I self-critical? How so?

The straightforward answer is yes, of course I am. I’m not elated when I look in the mirror so I’m working on my vanity. Which really means accepting my aging/aged appearance. I’m not happy when my son says I talk too long, which really means he’d rather be doing something else. At first I wondered if it is true and tried to change my responses when asked about my day. After considerable trying to be as brief as a Corporate Summary, I realized it wasn’t me, it was him. When I mentally work through my checklist of daily accomplishments, I have begun to stop myself. It’s o.k. if I wear my p.j.’s all day and piddle. This is a recent change for me to be chill. My self-talk is also changing. Instead of calling myself a dumbass for something minor, I correct myself and say, “That’s untrue. I’m very intelligent.” There are many changes in the critical department being made as I recognize them. The trick is to be self-aware and that takes practice.
