I'm now on day 4 of this program and have been encouraged to share on here the most disheartening thing a doctor has told me about my symptoms. So, here goes:
Me: I expect you see this kind of thing very often (referring to the fact I've had ongoing hand pain for 2 years yet my test results show no structural problems)
My doctor: Not really. It's pretty rare.
From all the reading I've done on this forum and books (The Mindbody Prescription and currently The Way Out), it would seem TMS isn't that rare at all.
To be fair, this is coming from the same doctor who prescribed me amitriptyline for my symptoms, then forget why he prescribed me them when I went back to tell him I want to wean off them! Let's just say, I won't be seeing the said doctor again.
As a side note, my symptoms are very minimal today, next to none. I know I shouldn't be obsessing over this and should be practising outcome independence. It just felt exciting considering I've started this program and appears it could already be helping
