Hi all
I was reading Dr Sarno's book last night and was reading about the subconscious and how that is where a lot of the repression is held and I was wondering how do you access this. I found it quite puzzling as it is hard to expl0re emotions that are buried and I felt quite confused at how I could actually find out what I am feeling on the subconscious level. I lay in bed asking myself how I felt and then asking myself questions in the hope that something would become clear. I was perplexed. I then went to sleep and had some of the most vivid dreams I have ever had. They revolved around my job, I work in a homeless hostel with people with substance abuse problems so its a stressful job but one I enjoy and I rarely feel scared at work. In my dream this was very different and I was terrified, being chased and shot at and being forced to dance on a slippy floor for the amusement of my manager. I woke up and realised I repress a lot of the stress of my job and carry the tension without releasing it. I was genuinely shocked by what my subconscious was showing me. I woke up with terrible pain which eased quite fast.
I was wondering if anybody knows any other ways to tap into the subconscious as this was quite upsetting, or maybe that is the point
Thanks
Helen
