This thread might have a pretty specific target audience, as most people have probably never heard of Strava, which is a social media platform for athletes (mostly cyclists and runners). So for some background, it started as a way for users to check their times on "segments" (ie. stretches of road or trail of varying length) against themselves and others over time. After launching it exploded in popularity over 10 years ago and is the biggest social media platform for athletes in use today. Some of you may recall lawsuits in the past where cyclists were competing on these segments and caused accidents (including loss of life I think) as a result of their behavior to beat others times. In addition to these segments it's popular for the same reason other social media apps are, for users to publicize their activity and give and receive "likes."

Anyway, for those that are familiar with it, I'm interested in thoughts on its use. I have mine, but I'm going to wait to show my hand so I can see the unadulterated opinions instead.

I have it, but never really check it, I just used it some time back when I was part of a RunBet group and at the time Garmin didn't feed directly into that group. I do think sometimes it gives people a good nudge seeing what others do, but at the same time it can cause people to push to a point outside of their abilities.

If it is being used for training purposes and to log personal records, I think it's useful; I prefer Garmin Connect. I'm not really a fan of the Local Hero or whatever it is called if you do the most in a certain area. I also think it's hilarious they tried to sue Garmin and then almost immediately dropped the lawsuit.

I use Strava regularly because I bike to work and like to keep track of my progress and how many miles I ride. It's somewhat motivating too, trying to beat previous times and such. I'm curious what your thoughts are...and what it may have to do with TMS recovery!
