Hi everyone. I recovered from back issues with TMS work but they flared up recently with a lot of stress in my life and sleep deprivation. However I just pushed through them/ didn’t listen to my body.

I’ve now developed ringing in both my ears / my head. It’s so high pitched and I can’t sleep without white noise or music playing. Tinnitus was a fear of mine after someone mentioning it to me and now it seems to have manifested. I would love to hear any supportive words about this and whether it’s likely to be TMS. I am getting checked by ENT in a couple of weeks to rule out any physical issues. This has triggered so much anxiety that was already building and building in my life anyway .. and now I feel I’ve had a bit of a breakdown. Has anyone healed tinnitus using TMS methods? I can’t seem to stop focusing on it and worrying. Thank you for any kind or encouraging words during this difficult time.

Hi. I definitely believe that is TMS. I used to have ringing in ears each time I start anti depressive treatment and observe this symptom disappeared when I recovered. Your brain tries to catch your attention. I talked to him (yes? What do you want to tell me? Even if my back/ anxiety/ breakdown are better, you choose to make me listen something in place of feeling my rage? OK. Do the job, and I make my life. I know you will stop when you'll be ready, I trust you....) and no jugement (oh! I preferred the pain/ anxiety ... nononono )

I had Tinnitus as a TMS symptom a while back, it was just in one ear. I worried about it then thought it may be TMS related given my history. As I started considering it was TMS, it moved to both ears, then I knew it was TMS as its very rare to get issues in both ears.

Really? I thought it was more common in both ears.. that’s good to know. Mine is both ears and they change in terms of which one is louder. In a silent room is a really loud ringing like my head is buzzing. Can I ask what methods worked for you? I read that somatic tracking can be good.. would love any advice. Thank you.

I have always had low-grade tinnitus, but it got much worse during points of the last couple of years during some stressful periods. Like you, it interfered with my sleep. The symptoms that seem to plague me are those I cannot escape from. As in pain or sensations that are there no matter what I do, how I move, etc. I'm just stuck and that feeling sends me directly into an anxious state. I had also developed hyperacusis during that time (sensitivity to certain sounds/noises), and I've since recovered.

If I listen for it, I still can hear my tinnitus, but it is very minor and in the background now. It does not bother me and I do not notice it unless I try. I began to trust that in time it would fade or my sensory system to acclimate and it would no longer sound so prominent. That's exactly what happened, but it did require me to believe that mind-body connection and allow myself to stop fixating and worrying. It did not take long once I took that approach.

Oh and similar to @BagelSchnitzel - it was in both ears.

I know how frustrating it can be, best of luck!

TMS can be contagious, and in my experience tinnitus is definitely contagious. For awhile anytime I read a post about it on this forum, I developed it. But it always went away after I stopped thinking about it. It sounds like this may be the case for you. Just ignore it, and it will likely go away.

SO many people. It's often contained in lengthy lists of multiple symptoms that people have compiled for their Success Stories.

Time to do the work! Asking for specific recovery advice about just one symptom is not the way to do it. The advice you'll get will be variations of "do the work" which is very individual.

What is the "TMS work" that you did in the past? Many people recommend reading Sarno again as a starting point. Do the SEP or revisit it. Read the latest neuroscience in The Way Out.

This happened to me last week while trying to go to sleep. Luckily I reminded myself it's TMS. I was fine the next day.

Tinnitus (which I have) can definitely be a TMS symptom but can also be related to hearing loss and rarely other more serious stuff. Please continue to get checked out by the ENT.
