Neuropathic pain can be especially frightening.

Hi, I really want to believe that those of us who have this kind of pain can achieve remission, however, I don't see many success stories with this type of symptom. Now, what if the pain is electric or moves around during the day like mine in my arms, or in other parts of the body? I hope it's possible because every day is a struggle against fear.

Hi @Alouqua47 , I too was looking for success stories along these lines. There are many on this forum that have described nerve pain/neuropathy of one kind or another, I would suggest just going through the success stories subforum. There are a number of great success story videos on Dan Buglio's Youtube channel, many of which involve neuropathy of one kind or another.

I have had plenty of sensations similar to what you're describing. Tingling and static electricity feeling in my lower and upper back, hands, fingertips, face and the tip of my nose, all kinds of stuff that comes and goes (or came and went—much of my neuropathy is gone now most days!). I won't list everything because there's no point in focusing on symptoms. But the short answer is yes, you can definitely achieve remission. Mine has already improved a good amount in the past month since committing to TMS healing and following the SEP, journaling, exercising, etc.

I had electric shocks. I still have some pain (much, much less!) and tightness but the shocks disappeared after I was able to understand that it was all caused my muscle and mind tension and stopped fearing these symptoms.

@Alouqua47 I had all kinds of nerve pains (that moved around) ranging from irritating tingling (nose, upper lip, scalp, little finger) to sciatica-like sensations from my buttock down one leg to the knee and sometimes down to the ankle, and radiating pain and electric shocks across my 'saddle' area with pins and needles and numbness (the latter if I sat for more than a few minutes) plus pudendal neuralgia-like pain in my groin/private parts and tingling and pain from my left shoulder down to my left wrist and then into my hand and fingers (somewhat reminiscent of carpal tunnel syndrome)... All gone now with doing mind/body work. Many of us on these forums aren't fully recovered - yet (e.g. I have some residual pain in my sacro-iliac areas when I sit on hard surfaces for a while, but in due course I know that that will go with continuing to do mind/body practises) so, for the time being, we haven't added our recovery stories on the success stories sub forum. The thing to remember is that the brain really can create all sorts of symptoms. I suffered a whole myriad of them.

"Thank you for your words; they give me hope and comfort. I am new to this—English is not my native language and I discovered this diagnosis on my own. I literally need help. Could you share your daily routines for mind-body work? I found Dr. Sarno through Alan Gordon’s story and PRT (Pain Reprocessing Therapy), but I haven't read his books yet. I know I must keep living despite the pain, lose the fear of the symptoms, and use somatic tracking when fear arises, but what exactly have you guys done?"

I’ve been committed to the mind body work for about a month now, and I only just started working with a practitioner a week ago.

I’ve had symptoms for 6 months but neither of these timelines really matter as I understand it, you can recover no matter how long it’s been and the amount of time it takes will be the amount of time it takes. Don’t worry about it!

Yes, I had what I called electrical buzzing in my chest and in my arms and legs. It moved around. I had it for more than two years but it has more recently gone. This book really helped take away my fear and told me what to do to make it go away. Hope and Help for Your Nerves, by Claire Weekes.

Hi @Alouqua47 , my favorite success stories are the ones on Jim Prussack’s channel and every now and then there’s a story where the patient had nerve pain among others. I believe there’s a good reason for it, nerve pain is infuriating. It’s a very strange pain that makes us emotionally uncomfortable and it’s very efficient at grabbing our attention. It’s also a hard symptom to just power through, which is bad and good news at the same time, since we’d better accept the pain instead of ignoring it. But easier said than done… out of all my symptoms, the nerve one is not the most painful, but by far the most challenging.

Anyway, as folks said above, don’t worry about it not being curable. It is. And it is a very common symptom actually.

Are you saying you really had all these symptoms from the beginning, or did they start to appear as you progressed in calming your mind? Have you experienced relapses of these same symptoms, or have they simply not returned?
@Alouqua47 I'm not sure if these questions are directed at me or @cafe_bustelo (as you mentioned their name, but the quoted text is from my post), so I’ll assume they’re meant for me.

So, to answer your questions...

Some of my symptoms were there from the beginning, while others appeared as I did 'the work'.

Along the way, I did experience relapses of some symptoms—with both those that were there from the beginning and those that appeared as I did 'the work', and in some cases these relapses happened a number of times.

However, other symptoms from both groups (those that were there from the beginning and those that appeared as I did 'the work') went away completely and did not come back at all.

Overall, some symptoms from both the beginning and those that appeared while doing 'the work' relapsed (sometimes more than once), while others from both stages (those that were there from the beginning and those that appeared when doing 'the work') resolved completely and did not return.
