    I woke up today scared about my neurology appointment.

    But I went into it joyfully. It was a positive step i was taking.

    "You're the first patient I've had wanting reassurance that your symptoms are functional!"

    We had fun.

    I was taken seriously.

    Only we can truly advocate for our own care.

    And that comes from a place of not freaking out.

    Another step towards recovering from TMS

    @CharlieEvans180
    That is great progress!
    My first step into truly believing in TMS and feeling empowered about choosing this path was at the neurosurgeons. I have all kinds of normal imperfections on my tests. They were so apologetic that they could not see that anything would cause the amount of pain I was in, and shocked when my reaction was "YAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

    I did not discover Dr Sarno until I was 60 (13+ years ago) but soon realized I'd had TMS symptoms off and on all my life. If I sought a medical opinion, I was also always relieved to be told they couldn't find anything wrong - although it was noted more than once that I might have excessive anxiety. Which I never took seriously because the symptom I went in for would disappear. It was the trigger of turning 60 that brought an avalanche of old and new symptoms together with disabling anxiety in a crisis which thankfully led to Dr Sarno and this forum.

    Congratulations Charlie! dancea

    Ha. I should say that they're doing some MRIs on their advice just in case there's a brain thing but he seemed pretty relaxed. If negative, he wants to send me for an NCS...... but at that point, I'll say no thank you!

    I'm getting out of here!
