What a wonderful surprise! Not required to journal today! Poked around the site instead, reading posts and responses, watched Forrest’s video on working too hard to vanquish pain.
It occurred to me yesterday that I, and likely you, suffer from leftover emotions. I say leftover because the resulting effects of a traumatic event, or critical parents, for example, can have a lasting, residual nature. I thought about that word, “leftover” and what sprang to mind was the image of a person stirring a cauldron of hideous stew and literally eating the leftovers day after day after day.
The image symbolized to me the obsessive, ruminating mind. And since, I’ve thought a lot about leftover feelings, acceptance, compassion and hoped-for grace.
