I’ve read the mind body prescription and healing back pain. I’ve had symptoms for over a decade to a varying degree. At the moment I have several symptoms happening, usually the worst are morning headaches which tend to dissipate after about an hour of waking. In 2014 I had an MRI showing 2 herniated discs and since then I’ve had various physical body work for 10 consistent years with very little improvement to my symptoms and thousands of pounds spent. In 2017/18 I ended up in the NHS system for chronic pain management. Compared to the other attendees I looked very normal. I’m the sort of person that pushes through and do not allow things to get in my way. The physio confirmed nothing was structurally wrong with me so then I was assigned a therapist and used CBT to work through emotional issues who also confirmed I was fine and then I discharged myself. At some point I also saw a neurologist and then decided I wasn’t getting any results with conventional so I continued with paying for bodywork therapists as I was getting some temporary relief. Since discovering TMS last month and joining this site I’ve stopped all physical treatment. I feel I have TMS symptoms but wondering if I need a further diagnosis or can I go straight into this work? Last year I did get told I had tendonitis and osteoarthritis due to new pain symptoms in my arm and hands. The pain consistently moves around my body - sometimes it’s multiple symptoms at the same time. The headaches are the worst when I wake up along with neck pain. I’m not sure what the best approach is because it’s hard not to think about the symptoms when I can feel them affecting me the minute I wake up. I’m starting the SEP anyway. Should I be reading any other of Dr Sarno’s books or just re read the 2 that I have?
