Intermittent pain

I have been having weird pain and slight tingling symptoms in my right hand. For a couple of days now I’ve been experiencing pain that comes on for several seconds then goes away for several minutes before coming back again and then the pain comes back for several seconds and goes away and so on.

It’s starting to worry me. I know I’ve been stressed and upset about things for a while now and I had a massive nervous breakdown and panic attack 10 years ago which left me bedridden for a long time. I am going to speak to my doctor about this but I’m wondering if this could be TMS or could it be something sinister to do with my heart or a part of my brain which processes pain.

The TMSing brain can cause all manner of different kinds of sensations to include tingling as well as pain and the sensations can be intermittent, short lasting, long lasting etc. Like you, we're not medical professionals on this forum so we're in the dark about whether or not what you're experiencing is a physical "sinister" medical problem. The advice on these forums is to do what you're going to do... see your doctor for the all clear. In the meantime, while you're seeking medical opinion, you've really got nothing to lose in considering that it's likely to be TMS and treating it as such.

Given your lengthy history of TMS symptoms and two pages of original threads on this forum, going back to 2017, each one detailing a new and different symptom (all of them TMS) I'm fairly confident that I can predict the outcome of this latest manifestation.

Hell, I have weird-ass symptoms all the time as my brain struggles to distract me from the terrifying existential crises that are defining 2025. My symptoms don't last because I automatically assume they are just another attempt by the always-on-guard TMS brain mechanism to take advantage of that part of my brain which is in charge of physical symptoms. I never contemplate anything "sinister" taking place in my brain, because even the annoying TMS brain mechanism is not sinister - it is a natural evolutionary development that is still very primitive, and has not had time to adjust to the modern world. I feel sorry for it, but it's not abnormal or sinister in any way, shape or form.

I think it was TMS (as usual) I was experiencing as yesterday I went for a long walk and did some shopping as a distraction and the sensation I was having of pain coming and going every 10 minutes disappeared. I do feel pain a lot around my body when I'm sitting dwelling on negative thoughts that have happened. I am still going to get checked out at my Doctors. Just shows you how powerful the mind is.
