Hello everyone! I just have a question about how i can relax the tension i feel in my body in meditation?
In this body scan technique, which i found it helpful because it is easy to follow and makes me feel good after, while we are moving from part to part we need to relax that body part, how? Do i need to think, i mean generating a thought like " Let go of this tension" Or " Tension go" something like that?! Because i think if i do this this way it's like I'm forcing something out of this meditation to happen, like an internal motive. I feel the tension, sometimes pain, so how i could relax it? And let it go??

    Hi,

There is a simple technique that you can try. You are in the meditation posture, at the beginning of the meditation. You breathe in and at the same time tense all the body parts at the same time mildly. Moderate tension, not with maximum tension. And mentally count to 6 while you tense the body, then count to 6 while you hold the breath and the tension. And then count to 6 while you relax the body and breathe out.

    Repeat this 3 times.

Your body will be much more relaxed after this and you can start to meditate.

    Take care.

If you are still having a hard time with this, I would find a therapeutic massage specialist who is willing to talk with you and guide you during the massage. I learned a lot from my first massage therapist. A good hands-on yoga teacher can do the same.

If you want free resources, there are probably many you tubes out there which will teach muscle relaxation techniques.

It doesn't always happen. You just do your best and note when you are tense.
I've tried every method under the sun to relax parts of my body. Some will, many won't...and this can vary day to day. I have learned to not sweat it. Concentrating on trying to relax anything ends up being "fixing" for me and that's something I just won't do.
