Head pain (pressure, sore to touch)

Hi there I've been experiencing dizziness and nerve sensations all over my head including pressure and tingling. The thing that's bothering me the most is a sick feeling I get to do with the back of my head, very top of neck. It almost feels like a hang over. Different parts on the back of my head are sore to touch, not severe or anything but an ache. I feel this when I lay down on my back, I can feel the discomfort in the back of my head.

Has anyone else experienced this at all?

Well, @Pat97, you've been around for a few weeks, and I know you've received TMS-based advice on other people's threads. Yet your question sounds like it comes from a random web searcher who just stumbled onto this site and is seeking a medical diagnosis out of the blue, with zero understanding of our site, Dr Sarno, TMS, or what we do here. I'm reasonably sure you don't fit that profile.

So, from the point of view of what this forum provides, I suspect that you're more likely to receive a helpful response if you introduce yourself properly, since this is your first original thread. You really need to provide context for your question, with enough personal information that people are willing to spend some of their time responding.

    A few specific pointers:

    1. Make sure you've followed the instructions at the bottom of every page, which is the medical caveat, and let us know that you've done that. We are not medical professionals here and can not give medical advice. We need to know that you've sought advice for your symptoms and that you are not in need of urgent medical intervention. It can be somewhat useful for us to know what you've been told, preferably without going into detail.

What we're really looking for is an indication that you've been examined and that "they can't find anything wrong". If that's your diagnosis, or you've received an inconclusive diagnosis, we can work with that.

    2. It's helpful for us to know what led to you finding and joining our forum, and what you're hoping to get out of being here.

    3. Try to avoid focusing on the physical details of your symptoms, which ultimately do not matter. In fact, one reason I'm suggesting all of this is because you are rather unlikely to receive an answer to your question the way you asked it. We are here to discuss the entire range of TMS symptoms in general. The individual manifestations of TMS are infinite, and no two experiences will be exactly the same.

We can be more helpful more quickly if you use your time to describe the life circumstances associated with the onset of your symptoms, connections to childhood experiences, and your emotional health in general.

Thanks for this reply Jan. Yes I will take my time and write my story in full as there's plenty of stress and worry throughout my life and of course around the symptoms flaring up.

I guess this was my fears flaring up that led me to ask this question. I will delete this post and write my story in full over the next few days. I think what I've struggled with abit is not hearing to many people having the same things I've had. But as you said no two people's symptoms are the same.

    Hi, Pat,

This might help. It comes from a book by Claire Weekes, called Hope and Help for Your Nerves:

“SORE SCALP The soreness around or on top of your head is caused by contraction of your scalp muscles as a result of continuous tension. You may notice how relief comes if you press your scalp or place a hot-water bag where it is most sore. This should prove to you that the cause is local, where you can reach it, and is not deep-seated. These are not the symptoms of brain tumor. Since contraction of tense muscle causes pain, it naturally becomes worse when you worry and improves as you relax and release tension. Pain-killing tablets help, but only a little. With the relaxation that follows acceptance, tension eases and the pain gradually lessens. However, this scalp pain, this “iron band,” is a most stubborn symptom to cure, so do not despair if it lingers awhile. I assure you that it eventually goes. The hardest, tightest band will gradually lessen and disappear with acceptance.“

I love this book, and I was surprised that nervous tension can cause this symptom.

I’m glad it helped. That book explains so much! I read it, or one of her other books, almost every day. I also love Freedom From Nervous Suffering. Some of her books are on YouTube.

I was reading one of sarno's books but I'll just start hope and help tonight. I have listened to one of those youtube videos but I think I'll absorb the book more. I think it was from a previous comment of yours that I bought the book in the first place lol. Thank you again

    @Pat97
Pat, I just wanted to tell you that I read the book probably a couple of times and then I bought the audiobook (before I knew it was free on YouTube!)— and I listen to a little bit of it every day, because it’s unbelievable how easy it is to forget all this and just start running scared and letting the fear take over. I think most of us have heard of anxiety, and the typical symptoms (one of which is dizziness by the way), but most of us haven’t heard of these other strange symptoms that adrenaline can cause. It is really comforting to know that’s all it is. I think for people like us— we have basically a nervous breakdown going on— but also, we have what Sarno talks about. So, you kinda have to do both. It’s a lot of work! But Claire Weekes will help calm you down a lot. At least you’ll stop being so afraid. But like I said, even after you read the book once, maybe listen to a few minutes of her books every day to remind yourself. It's the one thing that’s taken away the most of my fear. (I practically have her books memorized! lol)

Aww thank you so much for this. I can really tell you care. This means alot because going through our symptoms is so hard for anyone to know what you're going through, very frustrating. Thank you for taking the time to write this because we do need reminding to keep absorbing this information, even I stop for a day I lose track a little. I hope you're having a lovely day!
