Not my wedding anniversary, my TMS anniversary! But its still a success story.
It's been about a year since I hit my TMS rock bottom. It's been a pretty stressful past month at home and then we got a dog. Sort of like a child, it doesnt matter what you read or people tell you, you dont know what you have done until its in your house.
My big demon: anger, woke up the TMS monster and I went through this little mini-TMS cycle that was almost the same as when I was at rock bottom: back kicked in, leg pain, foot pain and numbness, bad sleep, stomach was off, except it happened in 48 hours, not 3 months. Except for the sleep it was all only about 10% of the intensity from the past but it was there.
I worked out, with some fear, but that pretty much took care of the back. Then TMS became like the character in the movie that runs out bullets, the throws the knife, throws the rock, the chair, the cat, anything to win. I admit I was mildly worried for a few hours but I knew deep down it was just TMS. And then I laughed when realized everything I experienced over several months was being through at me in a matter of two days!
My most important tools remain: being my own best cheerleader, writing to figure out what is making the small me livid, challenging my inner critic and using the tools from Feeling Good to combat it.
In a way Im glad I had this little anniversary party. I dont ever want to forget those tools and this reminded me to use them more often during times when TMS isnt present
