William James, one of my favorite philosophers: “Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.”
This is from a wonderful article on James. William James had a 'nervous disposition', was often sick and in a way helped himself with his philosophy - see the quotation above. My guess is that he had TMS.
