Feelings

Okay. So, I've read a lot of books and I am confident in the diagnosis. I know I repress my emotions and I have been trying to express them more. The problem is I don't know how to talk about them. My wife expresses herself a lot and can express her emotions rather well. I, however am unable to express them back. I don't even talk to her about my diagnosis or what I am doing to help myself. She would love for me to open up but I don't know how. Talking about my feelings always makes me uncomfortable and I don't know why. Does any one have some suggestions? Or any books/videos that would be helpful? TIA!

Hi gutter 3,
Focusing by Eugene Gendlin is a book which might be a start to do very gentle inner work, related to Dr. Sarno's work to notice what is coming up for you. I believe you can find partners to work this process long distance for free as well, through the organization. Sometimes it is easier to talk to someone designated to take this role and listen, rather than an intimate partner. Especially as you're learning to express yourself. Focusing has less emphasis on expression more on inner awareness, but obviously these two aspects are very inter related.
