As I've been journaling about past events, fear and shame are the emotions that dominate almost every memory. And if I'm understanding Dr. Sarno's teaching, then I'm guessing that the rage (about feeling fear and shame) is buried even deeper in my subconscious. So far, there's not been a lot of rage but I'm betting there will be as I keep doing the work. I'm starting to have a small amount of compassion for the young girl who was so viciously bullied at school and later sexually assaulted (I've always hated her), and I'm focusing hard on keeping my heart open for her so she can feel safe. This has never happened before and I'm pretty amazed, to say the least.
