Hello Everybody, something has come up and I really need some advice, especially from anyone that has experience with epidural injections. You see I went to a neurosurgeon thats a friend of the families, before i started the TMS programme. He told me that he recommended an epidural shot and if that didint work we would try the mini disectomy and then the last resort would be a fusion. This was about two weeks ago and in the meantime i started reading about TMS and doing the programme. I just got a message from my stepmum to say that the doctor has agreed to the epidural for free as a big favour and he wants to do it next week. I sort of dont want to miss this opportunity but im sure as far as the TMS diagnoses goes, its a big NO NO. Ive only started the programme and im doin my best to keep an open mind but the thought of fixing my back and getting back to training sounds like heaven. HELP, ANYONE.

EPIDURAL INJECTIONS HELP PLEASE!

If you have TMS, then you have to stop believing that placebos will help you. They contrarily will harm you. Dr. Sarno used the phrase from 1930, "one rotten apple will spoil the whole barrel."
We know from Dr. Sarno's work that there is no "pinching of the nerve." So what will the injection do for you? I suppose if you hurt your back and there was swelling that the injection may provide some relief. But did you hurt your back? I also suppose that as human beings we love free stuff. There may be a deeper part of you that enjoys getting a very expensive treatment for free, it's innately human to love a good deal.
You're at the TMS crossroads where you need to decide which way to go. Your decision to heal is all up to you. The TMS diagnosis is eventually one that you alone have to accept.
If you do go for the injection keep in mind the powerful placebo AND the SI, in tandem. If you have TMS, and you feel that the injection worked...did it really? Pay attention to the beast rising in another form. That is where the harm comes into play.
Tell the doctor you want to wait and see. Ask him or her if you can make a decision in a few weeks. Any doctor that won't let you do that is not worth having as a doctor.

My brother had the same issues and the shot actually made it worse…but that was him if you need the shot think of it as a bridge or maybe being kind to yourself to help you start your sep journey and strengthing you beliefs in tms diagnose.
