I had a doctor do a thorough work up and physical check on me. I went in with complaints of severe neck pain, lower back pain, hip pain (especially when sleeping on my side), foot pain, and chronic migraines. The doctor did functional tests on me to see where I was tender and to test my range of motion. I was told I had cervicalgia, severe osteoarthritis, chronic migraine, and very limited range of motion. Doctors didn’t know how I was in so much pain and out of bed. I was told to rest, no exercise because I’d aggravate my symptoms and possibly further injure my body, and to do physical therapy and trigger point injections for eight weeks. Worst of all, I was told to stop working, because childcare is very active and involves lifting children. I did stop working, did far less housework, and began to mostly rest and stay off my feet. I was told that most of what was on my imaging was advanced and had been there a long time, and would only get worse. Since I’d had pain for years already, I took what they said to heart and followed their instructions.
