What was the most disheartening thing a doctor has told you about your symptoms?

One doctor had told me that I felt so fatigued just because I hadn't been so active- and if I just started doing yoga, and got in some exercise, I would start feeling better. Basically telling me that my symptoms weren't actually chronic fatigue, but just that I was unfit.

Another set of doctors seemed to pass me back and forth like ping pong balls. The gastroenterologist told me that the fatigue had nothing to do with my stomach, and see other specialists, but then the rheumatologist told me that the fatigue was probably linked with my stomach problems. It was incredibly frustrating.

In what ways have you kept that in your mind?

The biggest takeaway from this all has definitely been that I am ultimately responsible for making myself better. Regardless of the individual diagnosis, even, doctors can only help you so much when you don't have a textbook case of a disease- if you don't, it seems like you really need to put in the legwork yourself. Which I'm doing, I think, by partaking in this program.
