Today's journal exercise is to consider the most disheartening thing a doctor has ever told me.
I have seen so many doctors and consultants and specialists over the years that it is difficult to remember what they all said and how they all treated me.
I remember going to see a podiatrist and after he examined and observed me he proceeded to tell me that I had a low pain threshold. I have also been told that the pain is all in my head and that it isn’t real. Sometimes I fee; that people don't believe me when I tell them how bad the pain is.
I also feel medical professionals just consider the one area of my body that is effected and they don't look at me as a whole individual and a whole person. I believe that all the different bodily systems work in harmony together and therefore I feel the incorrect approach has been taken to diagnose my problems. On reflection, the way I’ve been treated by medical professionals has made me feel exhausted and I have lost trust in the medical system as a whole. It feels like a constant battle.
