Disability (PIP) tribunal refused

Just to say that my disability benefit (PIP) tribunal was yesterday and I got refused it

It was awful the judge and doctors at the panel were horrible and acted like they were at an interrogation. When I walked into the tribunal I ended up having a panic attack and shaking like mad but they just looked at me as if I was acting it. I started getting pain in my leg probably due to TMS and I felt half conscious and dizzy.

Their excuse of not giving me the benefit was that I said I took medication last year but it conflicted with the medical evidence from my psychologist who said I wasn't taking medication. I tried to explain to the panel that I get bad reactions taking medication but they were not interested. They fell on me like a ton of bricks by asking me stupid questions.

I told them about TMS but they looked at me as if I had come off a UFO. What really makes me feel bad is that people on forums say most people win tribunals which makes me feel terrible that I am one of the minority who didn't win the tribunal.

Thanks for the reply. This decision has made me so angry and upset and not only agrivated my TMS but I am starting to get symptoms of derealisation and depersonalisation back which is frightening. I am also bedridden with depression.

Art, I’m so sorry! Is a psychological evaluation necessary for a tribunal?
I didn’t realize your psychologist would be brought in.
Can you appeal their decision? Did you have an attorney or anyone to speak on your behalf?

Yes, I had a welfare rights officer but she was useless and I had to do all the talking myself which was a very stressful and horrible experience for me because I suffer anxiety, depression and panic disorder. I am now suffering mental exhaustion as the aftermath of it.

You asked me if I could appeal their decision but the problem is that was the appeal and I didn’t win. My only option is to make a fresh new claim and try again for the disability welfare benefit (PIP) in a few months.

Oh no I went through all the PIP tribunal process and it was so stressful, I'm so sorry they weren't more understanding, my tribunal panel were so much nicer than the assessor. I only won because I had lots of support from a charity that specialises in my illness (cystic fibrosis) so if you decide to reapply, try and find a better person to help you through the minefield. I feel for you, the whole process is a nightmare.
