Day 8

I can say, at this point of the journey, I have some pain-free moments. They perhaps don’t last long, but they are incredible to experience. The pain I have in my leg, nerve pain from sciatica, runs all the way through my calf and to the bottom of my feet. Generally speaking, even if I don’t have stabbing/searing/throbbing pain, it almost feels like my pain has pain and those areas of my leg are tender to touch. Like the pain has left a bruise. BUT, NOW, when the pain is silenced, I can press and touch along those areas and it feels just like it does on the right side. It’s a tell….this faker, deceiver, trickster, malinger-er pain has shown its cards! The pain is coming from my brain, not from structural issues. Usually, when the pain flares, it’s because of a stressful situation I am in. I had noticed that connection before and wondered, but now I KNOW. It’s the trickster. And so, I call it out and speak truth to it. I’m certain I do most of this out loud, which has garnished more than a few sideways glances. But since most people are speaking into their AirPods, we all look like we are talking to the voices in our heads anyways. I will also say, I feel very much that God has led me to this and is leading me through it. I’m grateful and hopeful.
