Read Ah my non aching back. This line struck a nerve. Even when a herniated disc leads to compression of certain nerves, numbness and loss of function is the ultimate result, NOT pain.

Cheers!

Hi, Intense. Dr. Sarno assures us that herniated discs do not cause pain, that is from repressed emotions. The subconscious gives us the pain so we work on learning the emotions that cause it. Cheers and healing good wishes to you.

The journaling I did in the SEP helped heal me of severe back pain. I journaled to realize my pain mainly came from feelings of insecurity and anger when my parents divorced when I was seven. I realized they had TMS pains of their own... Mom had frequently migraine headaches and Dad had bad back pain, all of it caused by financial stress. I was able to forgive them and that ended my pain.

Your pain may come from repressed emotions going back to childhood, or something current, or from a perfectionist or "goodist" personality, wanting to please everyone too much and have others like you. Good luck discovering the emotional causes of your pain.
