Day 23 - Update

Eddie

Peer Supporter
Hi Everyone

Providing an update to my TMS progress so far. - Continues on from my day 1 thread -

http://tmswiki.org/forum/threads/da...ing-hip-lower-back-pain.1341/page-2#post-7297

I have made some progress using the 'Outcome Independence' strategy. I have found this helpful in forgetting about my pain but unfortunately I am still experiencing flare ups and intense bursts of pain. I still cannot surf and struggle to run for very long.

I am still very stiff in my leg and lower back- i cannot bend over to pick things up without a massive burst of pain and this really annoys me.

I have been journalling on and off and trying to explore some emotions that bring on the pain. I have had some success in identifying some of the triggers but still the pain is persisting.

I find it VERY VERY hard to stop thinking about the pain. It literally has taken over a lot of my thought processes and I am trying my very best to work on thinking about other things or ignoring the pain. I am CONVINCED that I have TMS and am still very confident in beating it but being a perfectionist and always monitoring my progress is holding me back.

Thanks for listening!

Eddie

Hi Eddie,
Under the discussion forum there is a thread on overcoming resistance to journaling. You might find some useful tips. Dr. Zirifides started it.

Are you journaling about being a perfectionist? And how it controls your life?
