    Hey guys,
So I've been working w/ a PT for 9 months now, 2x/week. I really like him, he's new to TMS but gets it now and really believes its a part of what's going on. He still comes from a traditional PT background, so he treats me like I'm a "mixed" picture. I continually tell my brain to ignore the physical stuff that he says will help "strengthen my core" or strengthen my posterior chain so that when I sit, everything is not resting on the passive structures." Or I redirect him and let him know that I'm more sure than ever that this is TMS and all I'm interested in doing here is strengthening my overall body, to feel stronger.

Anyway, today I went in and told him how I was doing and revealed to him that my TMS symptoms have spread to my groin area--in the last few days this pinpricky, burning sensation had spread from my glutes to my groin. He got super concerned that these symptoms of "saddle anesthesia" are a possible sign of Cauda Equina Syndrome which is a dangerous compression of the spinal canal. He urged me to see my physician and get a follow up MRI.

Now, I'm not scared. I'm not freaked. I was calm the entire time, just more disappointed that my guy would be suddenly alarmed at symptoms that seemed entirely TMS! I can see the conflict in him--he really wants to corroborate that this is TMS but he's got to adhere to his training/protocols. Since they can't really see me at PT until I get a full clearance from my doctor, I'm going to go ahead and see if there is something structural to rule out. I'm going to treat this like its TMS and go back to the physician I saw 9 months ago with a broad base of mind/body knowledge to get that confirmation. Assuming there's nothing serious here, this time I'll be coming in from a real sense of strength.

    Any thoughts?

I had very similar symptoms that fitted with an indication of it being Cauda Equina Syndrome... and they've all gone now as it was all TMS. (The brain can create all manner of symptoms that mimic all sorts of medical conditions.) But, obviously, do get yourself thoroughly checked out just as you're planning to do.
