Can anyone recommend distance therapist?

Hi all, I can't find a TMS therapist closer than 3-4 hours from me, so I figure I will need to use Skype or Facetime. I have good insurance but it sounds like once you go outside your home state it doesn't work? Anyone have recommendations?

I have been Skyping with a therapist at the Pain Psychology Center in LA for several months. It is Alan Gordon’s organization He has written the Pain Recovery Program which you can access free on this site.

You can work with a therapist or an intern. The difference is in the cost. When I first booked, Christie U. assured me the program is the same no matter who you use.

I think they have a “program” but it is customized to the needs of the client.

    I highly recommend them.

Celayne, thank you so much! I was thinking about them. It is a bit of an investment, but I figured they are probably the most specialized and might have the best expertise. You have had a good experience and felt like it has been worth it? I might have to set a limit on how many sessions I can do, but figured it still might be worth it.

That was my thought, too, that they are the most geared towards TMS healing. An intern is $80 for a 50 minute session.

I would tell them upfront how much you are planning to spend. It might help them frame your sessions more effectively.

Everyone I have had contact with there is very kind. I was surprised at the very fast response I got I think Alan himself was the one who got back to me to say he would connect me with someone to set up an appointment. You’ll get a free phone chat with someone first so you can make sure it’s a good fit.

I found that my therapist is so good at noticing behaviors and patterns of thought that I am too close to see. It surprised me st first because I am very introspective and thought I really “got” everything about myself. How wrong we can be!

    Good luck!
