Bruise on my hand

    Hey everyone,
I used to have major back pain that prevented me from doing pretty much anything in life. Realizing it was TMS cured that pain that had lasted two years! I have been close to posting on the success stories subforum, but I've had a lingering hand injury that has prevented me from fully being healthy and living my best life.
Right after my back got better, I went fishing and fell hard on a rock in the creek on my outstretched hand. Hurt quite a bit, had a nasty swollen bruise for a while. Eventually I went to the doctor, X-rays came back negative, and was prescribed a brace to wear for my thumb joint/wrist. Wore it for the full two weeks, and it felt like it was getting better, until I played tennis a few days ago, and the pain has all come back. It doesn't quite hurt so bad when I use it, but it hurts a lot the next day after activity (like tennis, playing the piano, paddleboarding). It's been six weeks now since what felt like a minor injury, so I'm starting to think it could be TMS. I can't see any swelling or bruising, but it hurts to push on it. Should I try treating it from a TMS approach like I did for my back? I'm just nervous because I am starting a tennis coaching job next Tuesday (which I'm so excited for! I had to quit it initially because of my back) and I don't want to make it worse or have lingering pain for months. What do you all think?

Tl;dr - can TMS manifest as a bruise (can't see it, only can feel it) in the hand?

As a side note, I am really so grateful to be able to go out fishing and get injured haha. Also this pain from my hand affects my life like 5% whereas my back was 95%, so I don't have it too bad!

Well, @Kevbot217, I'm inclined to state that no one here can or should comment on an acute injury that is still within the standard recovery time frame. That being said, TMS knowledge and practices are certainly helpful for recovery from acute injuries, and I believe that mindset and visualization are part of sports injury rehab. I often tell my story about not needing opioids after a minor hip fracture (bike crash) and pin-insert surgery, by employing a proactive mindset and rejecting fear.

You can certainly do your own research into how professional athletes manage to recover their ability to perform in what often sounds like very short periods following acute injuries. Or consult with a sports recovery specialist, which at this stage seems appropriate.

    Jan stated it well above.
I will add that Dr. Sarno writes about this kind of situation in Healing Back Pain and in other books. It was helpful for me to read Sarno AND follow up to get checked out. Minor strains I went over with my personal trainer. When an over-use injury lingered one time, I saw a sports medicine doctor I trusted and made sure I was open to the diagnosis and followed all suggestions.
Injuries happen! And, they can get better and then get aggravated again, when we exert ourselves.
I read Sarno and kept open to the possibility that it was TMS. My sense is that the individual has to figure this out, with the help of the medical community.

Charlie Merrill is a good one to follow on IG in regards to athletics, injuries, and TMS.

    Yes.
The largest bone in your body getting broken, heals in 6 weeks treated or not. You've just switched your focus to the hand. it's tricked me too many times to believe in any more.
I actually don't believe this. Anything that keeps getting injured is TMS...it knows you'll pay attention so it goes there.
I went to a sports injury guy Once...my leg was Frozen. He said it was fluid in my leg and then proceeded to 'drain' about the volume of a quarter (a 25 cent piece)..The physics don't work...a wedge that small wouldn't freeze a leg on a grown man.
I went back to working out hard immediately ( in spite of their warning to take it easy) and it never came back..that was nigh 20 years ago. Instead I focused on my horrible marriage...THAT was way more painful than the leg. I had a knee problem on the other leg for about two weeks when my marriage was over (aha!) and I treated it as TMS and it too went away.
