I'm a newbie too, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt, but Steve Ozanich's book The Great Pain Deception is essential in my opinion. He can come off a little bit preachy, dare I say, but I think it's just his tone; he has a lot of wisdom to offer and I kept being surprised by the depth of his insight. His book kept calling out a million different things I totally am and do, which was really helpful in strengthening belief in the diagnosis.
Hope and Help for Your Nerves gets recommended on here a lot. I'm only partway through but it is interesting and has given me some tools to manage my anxiety.
From the mentions and sources in Steve O's book, I made a list of further reading I want to check out, though I can't speak to these yet as I'm still working my way through the list. But here you are if you want a bunch more:
- The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine N. Aron
- Deep healing, Healing Journey, The 10-Minute Stress Manager, and Easing Into Sleep by Emmett Miller
- Spontaneous Healing; Breathing: The Master Key to Life by Andrew Wiel
- Anatomy of an Illness by Norman Cousins
- Alan Watts (audio recordings)
- Rapid Recovery from Back and Neck Pain by Fred Amir
- Edmund Bourne
