Back to TMS

Hello,

I posted back in November of last year when I started my TMS research. I read some of the books on the subject, went through the program (some of it), and then had the miraculous "cure". I felt great. I was steadily going to the gym 3x a week, lifting heavy, and making progress weekly.

To be honest, I had almost totally forgotten about continually reminding myself about TMS. I think I even told someone about my ailments and said "now that I just don't pay much attention to it, it has gone away".

Then.....I decided I wanted to go cross country skiing (since I hadn't been since the previous season), as well as play some badminton. I went three days in a row and after felt normal (good) soreness. Fast forward to about 2-3 days later and everything came crashing down. My elbows, forearms, thumbs, wrist, shoulders, neck, and back were intensely sore. It felt like I strained everything and then once one area hurt less like my elbows, then it was my thumbs and forearms, then it was my shoulders, then neck, etc. That was about 3 weeks ago. It is still continuing today.

I managed to go to the gym a couple of times within the past three weeks. One day I did my legs and the other was a chest kind of workout, which didn't help matters. During all of this time, I was so sure it was an "injury" from skiing/badminton. I was deep into thinking it was my posture and form while skiing, a muscle imbalance, that I needed to do my stretches and strengthening exercises, etc. etc. I even started thinking that my symptoms are so varied that maybe I have Fibro. After thinking about that more and linking back to TMS again, it really doesn't matter if I do or not, the path needs to be the same.

So now that things have been dragging on, I am back to TMS. It go me thinking, why doesn't anyone else I go skiing with have this happen to them? Why can I go to the gym for 3-4 months straight with little or no issue and then I do one different activity and it stops me in my tracks?

I think I definitely took for granted "the book" cure. I obviously have a lot of work to do. I find I'm back to the same spot before, where I just am not 100% how to get to these issues in my mind that are causing my pain. I have recently talked out a lot of things with my wife in regards to things that are bothering my, my emotions, etc. I thought this might create some relief by acknowledging these somewhat suppressed feelings, but nothing yet.

I just wanted to post something on here to share and to be accountable to again.

Thanks for listening.

Hi John,

It’s pretty common for people who have a “book cure” to later have other symptoms appear.

Your brain interpreted your normal soreness as a danger signal ; that’s why your sensations spread and have become persistent.

You are definitely on the right track!
