After doing well for several weeks, I noticed strong resistance to the TMS program today. While reading one of the books I had to put it down, I don't know if I'm taking a short break or just apathetic. I've had more stress due to an in-law dying in hospital as i write....I'm very angry that I've been given this pain. Chances are as the old song says, I will pick myself up,dust myself off and start all over again. More likely continue,I'm too immersed to start over.

keep plugging away Markus. Its hard when the pain becomes intense and the old record begins playing inside the head ''how could this possibly be down to my emotions!?''

Mark,
So sorry to hear of your losss. In the last two months two family friends have died, and each time various symptoms have popped up for about a week. Maybe you are experiencing a little emotional numbness rather than apathy?

You have come so far! Maybe you don't realize it enough. The progress you have made psychologically isn't measurable with yardstick, or scale, but your posts show so much mental change. You are doing good here!

Thank you both for the kind encouragement. I find it ironic that while writing the post,I had pain in my right knee and was talking to my brain, also telling myself I was only TMS! so, I think I believe it. I probably am just tired, thanks again.

Mark:-)

Markus, I too am sorry for your recent losses. I've had a few myself in the past few years and they remind me of my mortality,
since I am almost 85. I handle that by faith in the Lord and keeping busy.

We all get discouraged about healing through TMS because it takes longer than taking a pill or getting an operation.
But those are usually just temporary cures for pain, while TMS is permanent. I urge you to keep that in mind when doubts about TMS come up. You are not apathetic about TMS. You are just impatient for healing. Keep believing, and you will.

Hey Mark; man I've been on the TMS train for 14 months now and there have been many times especially early on when I said NO NO NO this is BULL****!!!! I am different!! I think this is fine and even good; take a break from it and just focus on other stuff.

Thanks Walt, and all the responses. I have Learned that most of my hardships in life or reactions to them are anxiety induced. I agree I want healing
FAST.
My next hurdle is tapering the pain meds....once I believe in TMS without doubt......I probably do now but haven't had an ah-ha! moment. Thanks Joey, good to hear from you.
Thanks Everyone!
Mark.

I think too the more progress you make the more confidence you gain, then the more confidence you gain the more progress you make ! Take a break from it if you need to but keep chipping away at it if you are able. I remember something like dr Sarno saying if there were a scientific study on TMS it likely wouldnt work because only about 20% of people would get it sufficiently to make real progress (Sarno was such a master at teachign it though it was much much higher with him), between the depths and comnplexities of the unconscious mind, the complex role of fear, the skill set of the therapist or MD treating, and the difficulty in reframing the meaning of the symptoms by the patient; it aint easy....

One thing I do when I am in your mental boat is look at the Schubiner study on fibromyalgia as I have those symptoms like you, and all of the other studies and most of the patients are often back pain or at least not so bad as us fibro symptom folks. I also think that with fibro symptoms you have one of the most severe forms of TMS, so even though with back pain 20% need therapy I think it is much higher with fibro; for me at least this has been the case. I dont know how I would have done without therapy by a TMS specialist but likely I may have not seen a large amount of progress and eventually gotten burned out with all the effort and not enough results. Here is the schubiner study....

Joey,
Your post nails it. I think I am burned out! This 12 years of Fibro
$#@#S you over! I haven't stopped doing the TMS work for 4 weeks, and I have made progress and recognize a lot of things about myself. ....that I had, and thought I'd overcome but haven't! So my life has been driven by anxiety. I will be reading that after I write this.
But thanks because you nailed it....I am burnt out. Hell I even left the fibro group I was on to concentrate on TMS....I miss that group a lot!

Thanks Joey!
Peace!
