You've been told your pain makes sense — the MRI, the diagnosis, the structural issues are all right there in black and white. So why does that explanation leave you feeling more hopeless than helped? This episode might be the one for you

Agnes Szymczak was diagnosed with scoliosis at 16 and underwent spinal fusion surgery with Harrington Rods. For years, she managed. Then a car accident changed everything. Severe back pain, neuropathy, arthritis, a herniated disc, anxiety, and crushing fatigue. She couldn't sit. She couldn't walk across a room without losing her strength. She couldn't hold her toddler daughter unless she was lying down. Everyone was recommending revision surgery extending the fusion from neck to pelvis, with disability as the likely outcome.
She couldn't believe it was the only way out. So she kept looking.
Bedridden and sleep-deprived, she found Dr. David Hanscom's book Back in Control. It gave her something she had been desperately searching for: evidence that surgery wasn't the answer, and that the nervous system's threat response was driving her pain. That book was her gateway back to mind-body work and eventually to pain reprocessing therapy, where everything shifted.
She retrained her brain. She broke the pain-fear cycle. And when a second car accident came, she didn't spiral back. She had the tools. She used them.
This Monday, Agnes shares that journey live alongside Dr. Hanscom himself.
The book that started Agnes's recovery. The surgeon who wrote it. Together, on one broadcast.
If you've been told your structural issues mean you have to live in pain, this conversation is for you. Come with your questions. Come as you are.
