Just getting started after having a debilitating back spasm, need some assistance.

Hi DJ, Your TMS sounds like mine. I had Back pain for around 10 years, I too had back spasms. But I admit my pains never lasted as long as you describe. I could have a spasm at wrk that would drop me to the floor, but would be continuing to work 5 mins later. The only treatment that helped...

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

Yes Riv I am sure it is, I've had so many symptom imperatives since discovering tms, I knew about the GERD from reading sarno, I believe this was one of his own TMS symptoms. I've not had that much but a few things had since finding TMS that I attribute to psychosomatic reaction Previous ankle...

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

Hi Giantsfan, I think you understand exactly why I feel it is not a bad idea to use PT as a way to prove there is no damage, one of the things my PT always says is there's nothing structurally wrong with my back. Then in this particular flair up it allowed me to further prove it was okay by...

    Sleep Tension & Updates

Hi Bam, I have a very similar problem with my mate. We have been working on a project together and he has persisted to let me down with it. I want to tell him what an asshole he's being, but all I get is his cocaine fueled ego getting defensive at any attempt to explain how I feel. Everybody...

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

I get it Fred, and your quite right, I don't think of it as a TMS treatment, I look at it like a bandage, to hold me together while I do the real healing. I am well aware that this is not due to structural defects. I do not believe any part of my BODY needs healing. I am well on my path to...

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

You certainly seem to need to find your proof hopeful. TMS knows you better than you know yourself. It will latch on to the tiniest bit of doubt. I always doubted my back pain was structural because I always managed to do a very physical job. Even if I had a back spasm at work that would make...

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

As Sarno says PT will only address the symptom not the problem. Sarno dos NOT deny that PT does give temporary symptom relief though and he says he does not really understand how that works. The point of the thread is to bounce some ideas around.

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

Hi Fred, thanks. I think that is Sound advice, I feel I KNOW what I'm suffering is TMS, and as we know physio is not a cure. I look at physio as a last resort to keep going now because it does, for me provide quick relief. I know my pain is not structural defect si it was a tough call to make...

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

Yes Irish I agree, first thing my physio always says is there's nothing major wrong. And always tells me not to book another session unless i need it!

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

Yes I agree it is like admitting u have structural damage, I totally do not believe I do, but physio does keep the pain at bay, all be it temporarily, and it's the mainstream solution, it can't be just placebo. What do you think about my idea that TMS picks on well worked/ tight spots to...

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

Hi Boston, that's what I wanted to think, but the phisio helped even though I had no faith in it! I know the pain is TMS but it still seemed to help!

Why does Physio help if the pain is psychosomatic?

Hi All, I just wanted to share ideas with others on the subject of physical treatments. I have a theory that in my case, my TMS symptoms seem to strike in parts of my body that have been worked the most. For instance, when I worked restoring cars it was predominantly lower back and neck pain...
