About a month ago, I was diagnosed with Sciatica as I had been experiencing pain in my left hip and lower left leg area, along with pins and needles in my foot. An MRI revealed mild lumbar stenosis and a disc bulge and an osteopath I had been seeing for lower back pain last year prescribed PT which commenced last week. I have read Dr. Sarno's books, watched his lecture on a DVD and am reading anything I can find about TMS. I will be 74 come May, and over the years, I have had regular bouts of lower back pain, IBS and migraines. I am also the main support for my 45 year old son who was diagnosed with schizophrenia some 20 years ago. He is living independently and is doing fairly well, but remains a concern. In thinking about TMS, it is quite possible that is what is happening to me, but I cannot seem to alter my thinking about it and continue to believe it is the result of a physical condition. I would appreciate any helpful suggestions.
