Learning to be kind to myself

I have downloaded Abigail's 'Heal your Soul, Heal Yourself' e-book and plan to get started Monday. The past week on the forum I have discerned that much of my childhood has been worked through and I've forgiven and do not hold resentment towards those people who unknowing or knowingly inflicted...

Learning to be kind to myself

I Snap! Thank you, Veronica!. The past few days I've been feeling overwhelmed as I try to figure all this TMS stuff out and carve out time in my day to 'do the work'. I am angry that I even need to do this work (my inner 'whiner' is ever-present), I've been on this journey for 17 years...

    Day 3 & 4

Thanks for this great insight, MorComm. Much food for thought in your reply. Even though I try to avoid watching the news or reading the paper (leave all that to my husband), it is impossible to avoid the gloom and doom that the media focuses on.

    Day 3 & 4

PS I just looked over my long list of Personality Traits and see that most of them are contributing to unrealistic expectations of myself (and others) and the high anxiety that is a constant in my life. I wonder if others would comment on methods they've used to work through some of these...

    Day 3 & 4

(((BG))) I want to thank you so much for taking part in the call with Alan. What a beautiful, generous woman you are! I related to many of the things you shared on the call and you continue to inspire and encourage me in the journey. Thank you. Yes!!! Because I am a stay-at-home mom (and...

    Day 3 & 4

Just listened to the webinar today. Very enlightening! Like Veronica, feeling feelings is HUGE for me. I am very sensitive and somewhat melancholic in temperament. As the oldest of 4, I had a lot of responsibility at an early age. (By age 10 I was preparing meals and caring for younger...

    Day 3 & 4

Thanks so much, BG, for the encouragement! I love your posts, you have so much insight into TMS and are so gentle and kind in your replies. I really need to listen to Alan, I keep seeing comments from others that I connect with. Anxiety, guilt, shame, inner terrorist...key words for moi...

    Getting Motivated to Write

Livvygirl, So glad you posted this. I've been wondering the same thing myself. Regarding journalling I have not been able to decided where I should write. I was journalling on my computer, but found that because of the spell-check and auto-correct, I'd get distracted. So i think for me that...

    Getting Motivated to Write

Hi Jan, I am new to the TMS Forum. I just want to thank you for sharing your story. I am on Day 4 of the Structured Program (and have been for almost a week, lol) and have realized that anxiety is a factor for me as well. I see now that even as a small child I had HUGE anxiety. I...

    Day 3 & 4

I am so grateful that you 'googled sciatica' and shared on this thread as it was a light bulb moment for me when I read: I have thought of this many times the past week prior to and during exercise. It's part of my strategy to convince my brain that all is well with my back, hips and knee...

    Day 3 & 4

Hi Forest, I think what was most upsetting with this particular Dr was the dismissive and condescending way he spoke to me. He was abrasive and rude and told me point blank that I was wasting his time and what I needed was 'a shrink.' If he had taken the time to speak sincerely with...

    Journaling Past Events

Friends, I had a lengthy response on the go and some how hit a key that took me back a screen and deleted everything! F.R.U.S.T.R.A.T.I.N.G! Lol! It is late and I need to get some sleep. I'll respond again tomorrow. Thank you all for you comments and insights. N

    Day 3 & 4

Yesterday my husband and I went for a walk in the river valley. It was a gorgeous sunny day here, +27C! I was apprehensive about my knee as it is still 'touchy'. We decided to walk for 30 minutes on the trails. Once I was out of the car I was excited to be in the trees, hearing the birds...

    Journaling Past Events

First I want to thank all you who have commented on my threads. I have never done an online group before, so this is pretty new to me. Not to mention that TMS is a BIG learning curve. I really appreciate the welcome, acceptance and encouragement I've received. Yesterday (day 5) in the...
