    Symptoms increase during vacation

I have been dealing with persistent low back pain for over 2 years. I started exploring TMS about 4 months ago, initially by reading Sarno's books, then by seeing a TMS specialist in NYC, and now by working through the SEP for the last month or so. In retrospect, I realize that even prior to low...

    Day 15: Pain moving around

Today's question to ponder is, "During the past two weeks has your pain been moving around? How has this affected your belief in the diagnosis?" The answer is yes, undoubtedly, my pain moves around. Some days I have what I call the “point of origin” pain. This is the localized pain around the...

Day 8: having success at recognizing the emotions related to the pain

I'm beginning to think that recognizing the underlying emotions is a long-time process, that will involve lots of new discoveries as time goes on. May you keep persevering in the task!

A bit more encouraged, except for my favorite seat

Baseball65, that's an interesting approach! It is ironic that I can go split wood, and play whiffle ball with my kids, and jog 3 miles, without any pain, and yet when I try to sit in a comfortable spot, the pain starts. I'll have to get creative!

A bit more encouraged, except for my favorite seat

In my first post 3 weeks ago, I talked about being a bit discouraged. I had a breakthrough last weekend during a journaling exercise, which led to two days that were almost completely pain-free. I've also had some good days this weekend. I've noticed that there is a definite correlation to my...

    Day 1 Somewhat discouraged

Thanks for the reply, ssxl4000. Yes, I've spent some time reflecting on that writeup about changing the mindset. Makes sense in theory, but hard to achieve in reality!

    Day 1 Somewhat discouraged

Thanks for the insights, baseball65. You are right about the rage-inducing nature of these last two months.

    Day 1 Somewhat discouraged

Thank you Dawn! I do appreciate your input. Yes, there have been better moments. The biggest positive change is that I know I can resume my physical activities without doing structural damage to my back--so when I've been able to jog, or play ball with my kids, those have been very happy...

    Day 1 Somewhat discouraged

I am 41 years old, a dad of 4 young children, and physically active. I have dealt with chronic low back pain for the past two years, which for most of that time, robbed me of much of my physical activity. I went through practically every treatment approach short of surgery, with one practitioner...
