My Story
Suffered from chronic lower back pain since my mid-30s. Have always led a physically active life - surfer, snowboarder, outdoor pursuits etc. Back pain coincided with a desk job as a newspaper reporter so was blamed on sitting and a slight weight gain. Had many episodes of severe back pain over the following years although I could spend a week snowboarding with no pain then end up immobile for a week after reaching for a toothbrush. All x-rays/examinations showed no sign of physical damage yet the pain was unbelievable. Opened a successful outdoor sports retail business and tried every form of therapy to control my backpain. In 2008 the economic crisis hit and by 2010 I decided to close the business and moved from Scotland to London to make a fresh start. One day while walking across Waterloo Bridge I experienced a back spasm so severe I could barely walk. My wife "rescued" me and I spent nearly a week in bed feeling incredibly depressed. I had recently read "The Power of Now" by Eckart Tolle and something clicked so I started researching into psychological causes of backpain, discovered Sarno and TMS and by thinking emotional I have taken back somee control of my life. But I have had several relapses although my recovery is always faster. - Loading...
