Healed from back pain including paralysis

Hi All - Finally posting my healing journey. I hope it can help some of you. Apologies in advance for the rambling length of the post. I started suffering leg pain in 2015. I started noticing a dull ache in my hamstring and I put it down to too much heavy deadlifting in the gym. Coincidently...

    Real weakness vs perceived weakness

2hrs of SUP is not going to cause you any structural damage - if it had you would have felt it instantly not 20mins after. Your back is one of the strongest parts of your body......

    Real weakness vs perceived weakness

Hi Wilcox2969, Been in this boat, felt the fear, doubted, even panicked. Long story short. Had two disk herniations on MRI. Two separate bouts of complete calf paralyzation in each leg. First time around it took about 6 months to fully heal and I stopped everything aside from walking. But by...

    After yoga...

I had/have the same during and or after specific movements and exercises - namely flexion moving/bending forwards etc. The fear can take hold and convince you its something more than it is - it isn't, stay strong and remind yourself that your brain can be very convincing.

    Leg weakness/unsteadiness, possibly TMS?

It is scary and it can be TMS. With your history it probably is. I had total paralyzation in my calf, couldn't put any weight on it whatsoever, walked with a limp. If I had gone to a doctor I would have had surgery but I had understood TMS by then. Started to attack it by lifting heavy weights...

    Ignoring the Doctor

Hey eightball, I feel your pain mate. Obviously, everyone's situation is unique. My left leg was paralyzed three months ago - I couldn't walk properly or put any weight on my leg. I didn't actually seek any medical help because ( bizarrely ) the same thing happened six months before but to my...

    Acute Relapse need help

Hi mate ( and fellow Aucklander) Are you moving much?, getting rid of anger with physical excersise helps me more than journaling ( I think ) Thats where I would start anyhow. Then use that as a base to build on the journal stuff. Josh

what if the mind is too fragile?

Your right - the mind is too fragile. But by showing you how fragile it is, its also showing you how powerful it is. If your mind can do the things to your body that you are experiencing now, what can it do when it's working perfectly? The wound is where the light enters you - Rumi

Back in the ring with TMS

Kevin, It was terrifying at first but now I just laugh at the lengths the brain (subconscious) will take your body. Challenge it every day, push yourself and stay determined. You will heal.

Back in the ring with TMS

Hey Matt, I know how you feel. My foot/toe/butt cheek was numb for months and I had complete calf paralyzation in both legs (separately). Couldn't walk properly, couldn't put any weight on my leg at all. Got lost in the fear - any movement with cause perm nerve damage, won't be able to run...

First time post - Do I have TMS?

TimmyH & Steve, Thank you for the considered and entirely logical response. It really does make sense but always the niggling worry that squatting, deadlifting etc will reinjure the back...... I really have to undo all the conditioning that I have been subject to from physio's & doctors etc...

First time post - Do I have TMS?

Hi All, My first time here and I am happy to have found support through likeminded people. I guess I am after the common validation question - Do I have TMS etc.? or at least a sound and balanced judgement from someone with more experience than I. Only recently came across the concept of TMS -...
