    TMS info for significant others?

Hi Laura, Thanks so much for your thoughts. I/we haven't pursued a therapist yet, but I can see the benefit. ;) Jo

    TMS info for significant others?

Thanks for sharing your explanation to him about your situation. I think my husband has felt threatened by the changes in our relationship around my new found information and attitude. It helps to know how to voice it. :)

    TMS info for significant others?

Or frustrating. @Andy B Thank you once again SO much for your insights. I do think my projection is much of the problem and that my partner also pushes my buttons. I think it's a mix of both. It's really important to me that you pointed out the projection so I can give myself, and him, a...

    TMS info for significant others?

@Andy B Thank you so much for this response. It helps me to keep things in perspective. I fear I may have married someone who perpetuates the messages I got from childhood of not feeling safe. I've suggested couples counseling several times over the years, before I understood the TMS, to no...

    TMS info for significant others?

Thanks, @Tms_joe I may give that a try. I think he understands and accepts the diagnosis, but can't see his part in perpetuating some of the issues or how he can help. I think he gets it and is just waiting for me to "fix" myself. Not really sure what to do with that. ;)

    TMS info for significant others?

Hi @Andy B. Thanks for the quick reply. My husband and I have talked a lot about TMS and they roots in my childhood and the ways his interactions with me sometimes exacerbate my issues instead of help me feel safe. He seems to do best with a concrete list of "how to's" for anything. I guess...

    TMS info for significant others?

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone can share support materials for those who live with us TMSers. I've tried to help my husband understand the safe, nurturing environment I need that would help me heal but I think the things I'm sharing aren't concrete enough to help him understand. Does...

    horrid flare, losing hope

I know what you mean, though. I keep hoping to get rid of my current aches and pains and truly be cured before they morph into something else.

    Antibiotic TMS

Kalo, I feel like our loved ones know we are there even when they aren't fully conscious. My Mom wasn't conscious for the last few days and I'm absolutely certain she was fully aware of everything we were saying. I'm really concerned about you dealing with that much grief and having all that...

    Antibiotic TMS

Hi Kalo, I'm so sorry about your Mom. It's a heart wrenching thing to go through. I pray for peace for her. When my Mom was dying I had a whole host of physical problems, one after another, month after month. I think I was focusing on them (and therefore making them worse) because the...

    horrid flare, losing hope

Each time I have a new symptom, I try very hard to think psychologically instead of focus on my various physical symptoms, that change all the time. Why do I have this pain today? What psychological stressors are going on? What feelings am I unaware of or avoiding? This kind of thinking...

Day 29 Unsent letter to myself

Hi Rainbow, I did something similar. I was listening to Louis Hay tell me to say to myself hundreds of times a day "I love you and I approve of you". I did do this for several days and found I gained more self-acceptance through it. Then I found myself imagining all kinds of scenarios...

My TMS Recovery Journey - Accountability Post

Hi Rainbow-so great to hear of your progress. I get you on the 'raw' nature of the emotions. I feel raw too, but with that, I also feel really alive instead of just muddling through life-so I guess there's that. A lot of my sense of feeling constantly under attack had to do with the way I was...

Day 1 Chronic neck/upper back pain for 8 months

Hi Korsko, Welcome to the program! I'm certainly not a doctor, but I think you'll find, as you spend time on the site, that your story is quite similar to others. While every story is unique, there are some commonalities. I, too, had trouble with the diagnosis, but after seeing the same...
