Day 1 I WILL dance again!

Nope. I was just reading other people's stories for inspiration, and I love poetry.

Day 1 Not going down without a fight, even if it is w/me

Good luck, Deb. I think 75% of us have something going on at L4/L5, and I KNOW we don't all have to be in pain! ;) sometimes I am fine and sometimes a brutal pain kicks in... Nothing is changing in my back, but a lot must be going on in my subconscious. I'm trying to sort it all out, and I...

Day 1 I WILL dance again!

Good luck Dancer. Awareness training has helped me. Just breathing and accepting yourself in the present moment. It helps you release the past and let go of fear. You have new friends rooting for you!

    Day 10 Gaining insight

Thanks, Jan. sounds like you are doing great! A new physiatrist i am seeing told me a story about a woman with similar problems to mine but with ten times the pain...the woman became an amateur body-builder and now has NO pain at all. It was very inspirational to me. I agree that it's important...

    Day 10 Gaining insight

I took a break from the program during a vacation week and now i'm getting back on track. In working through all the emotional issues that are part of this work, I realized that I have never really accepted myself and have a streak of self-hate due to the deformity of my scoliosis. Wearing a...

    Day 1

Actually, my PT person was very freeing, not restricting. Building some good core strength, she said there's no reason I couldn't start to play golf again, which I had given up a year ago. I guess they come in all stripes. And my new physiatrist encouraged me NOT to jump into surgery, and told...

    Day 1

wow, GR, yes, it helps to hear your story, and your struggle. Part of our suffering is thinking we are alone in it, but we are not. Thanks so much for taking the time to share. I am talking to myself a lot, too, trying to recognize my emotions and triggers, acknowledge them and let them go...

    Day 1

Thanks, Sandy Rae and GR. After many years of pain that has culminated in a lot of fear, a number of spinal epidural shots, and the consideration of surgery, i need all the encouargement I can get... A couple of days ago, I thought I would try walking to work in the morning... It's about a mile...

Day 9 holding myself to unreasonably high standards

Wow, that sounds a lot like my job. Very complicated project with a fairly fixed deadline. The parameters and details of the job change daily, so it is impossible to finish anywhere near on time. My stress was starting to cripple me again and I came upon this program. I recognize that I am...

    Day 1

Thanks, Leslie. I have so many traits that contribute to my pain, it's almost funny. I have been talking to myself about it all the time. Trying to acknowledge that I'm human and filled with rage, anger, fear, disappointment, sadness... You name it. And telling myself I don't need to hide those...
