    Accepting getting older

@had Reading your story I get the impression that you are grieving the loss of the life you had and have yet come to terms with the life you have now. Is this what it is like for you? Apparently there is more going on in your life than TMS otherwise there would be hope of life improving. So...

Day 10 What if the person that causes me most stress is ... me?

Writing this sentence opened the door for me to welcome anxiety into my life. I took the time to journal a dialogue with anxiety that same evening. I guess I kind of talked to myself in my mind  It may sound a little crazy, but it was extremely helpful to do such a dialogue. I asked what...

    I don't understand

How can you resume all activities? You have to rule out structural problems first. So visit your doctor if you're not sure yet. Furthermore, I think you should add the adjective "normal" to the sentence. I do not think lifting a 50 kg box 100 times is normal activity. So I would not do that.

    Day 18 Trouble with journalling

I find it increasingly difficult to journal every day as part of the SEP. When I read the three lists I made before there is nothing on there that I necessarily want or need to write about. I feel like I have dealt with issues from the past before (in therapy or otherwise) and they are not a...

    Day 6 Doubts?

I feel the same way. From the moment I read about TMS I just knew this was it. It feels right, it fits, it explains what doctors could not explain before. I just know this is it. I feel no need to hold on to the structural explanation at all. It's rather a relief that I do not have to keep on...

TMS can amplify real pain stimuli, right?

The brain can decide to not feel pain, even though there should clearly be pain. The brain can decide there is pain, even though there is no injury. Schubiner shows several examples in this video. So I guess the brain amplifying should be possible as well.

Visualizing doing exercise to challenge the pain/TMS?

I don't know about visualizing exercise, but I've been reading about success with pain reduction through visualization in Norman Doidge's book The Brain's Way of Healing. The first chapter in this book tells the story how Michael Moskovitz (a pain specialist suffering from chronic pain himself)...

    job dissatisfaction and worsening symptoms

Both perspectives are true Mike. You are running from fear (as was I). In a way that is useless, because you take yourself with you. The other perspective is true as well though. Why force yourself to do it the hard way and play the "game" of face-your-fears at a really advanced level when you...

    job dissatisfaction and worsening symptoms

I have. But I did not know TMS was involved at the time. Changing careers is not an be all end all solution to TMS. I have changed careers and it did not cure me. That said, I do think that staying in a job you resent is really toxic. Been there, done that for 12 years. The TMS symptoms I had...

Day 10 What if the person that causes me most stress is ... me?

Thank you Plum. You've painted a lovely picture to aspire to! I've never thought of decluttering my mind before. It really suits me though. I know how powerful decluttering my home is when I feel overwhelmed. Even if I do not consciously notice it in my body, my home shows when I have too much...

Day 10 What if the person that causes me most stress is ... me?

On day 10 of the program you are supposed to write a letter to someone or something that is causing you the most stress at this moment. I could not think of anybody but myself. I've never seen myself as anxious at all, but I've started to realize that I am. I can name events / people in the...

Question: (how much) To feel or not to feel?

Reading your post I get the impression that you hold on to feelings because you're afraid you might suppress them if you let go to soon. Is this what it is like for you? If it is: I don't think you need to hold on to feelings. I think you're doing great by acknowledging them, being with them...
