    Steroid shot?

The steroid shot did not help at all. I happen to live in a rural location and was not getting much info on my imaging. I eventually went to SF and was told I needed a new hip, which I did and have been doing fine since then. Still grateful for all the TMS info. Still comes in useful. Thanks

Dealing with pain of a flare up

Thanks for this perspective. That’s more or less how I have been viewing it as well. But didn’t know if this could be hijacking things. When I use ice, I know it is not fixing anything and it’s temporary, but it generally just makes me feel better- my back and my brain. I try to use many of the...

Thanks for the reminder. I did do both of these a while ago. But would be good to go back for a refresher.

Dealing with pain of a flare up

Just curious about different approaches to how folks deal with an increase of pain. Since I know we should not use comfort measures such as ice or heat, etc. just looking for some examples of how some of you might approach this. Even though I know ice is not fixing anything, it does make me...

Graded exposure vs just do it

Thanks Jan. I too am working with a trainer (picked up on some other posts by you that I’ve read). This is working ok. I don’t necessarily feel better when I leave, but also don’t feel worse. I do feel as though a I am stronger and maybe can stretch a few muscles I have been unable to stretch...

Graded exposure vs just do it

I have been reading about different approaches to reincorporation of activity. Several people on this forum have talked about just adding in exercise and activities they had previously stopped, no matter the pain. Other things I read talk about using graded exposure and going slowly. IE walking...

    Overused muscles or TMS

Thanks for theses reminders. Although trying to not react to the pain with fear and moving through my day, I also find myself using ice, heat, etc to try and alleviate the pain. Probably giving my brain the message that this is an area that needs to be protected. I am trying to approach all of...

    Overused muscles or TMS

I’m wondering what people think about the possibility of having pain from improperly used muscles vs TMS. For example, I having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that TMS makes sense for my back and hip pain. But I also know that because of that, I have been compensating with other...

    Mirror therapy

Thanks. I have been reading a few articles that talk about it being used for chronic pain, stroke rehab, as well as phantom pain. My pain is mostly motion activated, so will definitely be interesting to see if it can help. Now I just need a mirror :-)
