TMS vs. neuroplasticity vs. somatic tracking

Oh, and don't do the things and look to the symptom to see if it's better. The goal is less and less attention on the symptom. Watching it will only keep it around. You won't be able to do this perfectly of course, just keep practicing. Don't worry about the time it takes. This is what is on the...

TMS vs. neuroplasticity vs. somatic tracking

I can totally relate. My pain got really bad when I was 24, and I had to quit my job as an RN. I am 30 now, and I have been trying to "solve" my TMS pain for 6 years. I clearly see where I went wrong before. And I also know the things that helped. I have eliminated many of my TMS symptoms, I...

TMS vs. neuroplasticity vs. somatic tracking

Hi latitudes! I am familiar with the work and theories of all of those you posted above. They may seem different but they simply boil right down to the same cause, fear. The pain is initially activated by some kind of threat, it may have been emotional (Sarno), an injury (Moskovitz), or...

Stretching....to do or not to do?

Hi Tasy! I totally get where you are coming from. Here is my take: TMS pain is all about fear. So if deep down you think not stretching is causing your muscles to tighten, then its more than likely the fear of not stretching is the cause of your pain and not flexibility. Science is showing...

    Disc Herniation

Here is a quote I found soothing from Dr. Hubert Rosomoff (Sarno mentioned him in HBP). Hope it helps! P.s. only read 1st paragraph. He says "nothing can be further from the truth" regarding nerve compression causing pain.

Alan G. How does TMS cause tightness?

Hi Jen! The way I think of it is, when our brain is sensitized by stress, it sensitizes our spinal cord to the messages coming in from the tissues. So the muscle and fascia are perfectly fine, but our nervous system which includes brain and spinal cord are stressed and overreacting to...

    Discouraged after seeing TMS doctor

Last thing... there is another study that showed in people with sciatica, they did follow up mris. Once their symptoms fully resolved, some mris were exactly the same. And in the group that didnt recover, some of the cases the mri no longer showed herniation, yet symptoms were the same.

    Discouraged after seeing TMS doctor

I have this screenshot saved on my phone. I read the highlighted part when i start to worry. This is quoted from Dr. Hanscom.

    Discouraged after seeing TMS doctor

It has been my experience that Dr Schubiner and Dr Hanscom are more confident ruling out the structural changes. I think it helps to realize both Schubiner and Hanscom have experinced tms pain and fully recovered despite their own mri changes. They have knowledge and experience. Plus they are...

Anyone have experience with Silent Reflux? Have you found it to be TMS?

I had this!!! I even went to the ER one night afraid the lump in my throat would block my breathing. The following day I went to a trusted ENT was told it was just reflux, and not cancer like I feared. And I stopped being afraid of it, a week later it was all gone. Haven't had a problem since...

    Need to get this out

Hi Kimaya, I am sure that was so difficult for you to go through! Right now, I am reading The Book of Forgiving by Desmond Tutu. And it's possible that today can be seen as the first step toward forgiving your mother. I think forgiveness is a big part of healing from tms. Desmond has a...
