I am a 4o year old male that has been in psychotherapy for around 19 years. With Dr Sarno’s personality types, I think i fit the description of the good isn’t- looking to be a good person who gets the approval of others. I have also dealt with depression. When I was younger, my father was very depressed and often did not function well, both professionally and personally. My mother was extremely stressed, and continues to be quite an anxious person.
In my twenties, I struggled with back pain. After reading Dr Sarno’s book, I was able to overcome that. Around five years ago, I dealt with sever pain in my left heel. The dr said it was a heel spur that was causing inflammation in my Achilles’ tendon, but i soon came to accept that it was also TMS. A couple of years later, I had pain in my knee. After consulting with Dr Marc Sopher, I was able to overcome that by accepting it as TMS. In the last week, not due to any traumatic incident, I started have extreme pain in my left heel again and got the same diagnosis from the podiatrist- heel spur causing inflammation of the Achilles. While I am convinced that this too is TMS, the pain is getting worse and even spread to the bottom of my foot. The pain has been increasing and spreading so it is causing me a lot of distraction and worry.
