    Hello all,

Has anyone improved or reversed PMDD with TMS work? It is so hard to find information on this. What makes me think it is is that there isn’t any test for it. You can have PMDD with normal hormonal levels. It’s more of an extreme sensitivity to the change in the cyclical hormones. Since they can’t test for it, it is diagnosed by tracking symptoms over at least 2 month. I did some searching on here and not much came up. It is a struggle and was looking for anyone who had been able to improve it or even overcome it. Thank you.

I firmly believe that PMDD is a TMS equivalent. I never had any issues until I had a really intense period of anxiety and fear back in 2022. Over time, I started developing and was diagnosed with PMDD. I haven’t reversed it yet but I’m sure it’s possible. I didn’t develop this disorder until I had an extreme period of emotional turmoil and fear, so why can’t I reverse it? My methods are just to recognize the symptoms as they come and I do what I can to just calm my nervous system by going for walks, meditating or doing something I love doing even if I don’t feel motivated. Sometimes I can pull myself out of feeling bad or off. I also don’t worry about it too much.

Thank you for this. Yes I think mine started over a period of time where my stress and overwhelm and fear was getting worse and worse. I had a friend point it out to me. I had never heard of it before. All of the lightbulbs went off when I read about it. It was clearly me. Even my husband was like “this is YOU- what can you do for it?” I brought it up to my therapist who I had been seeing for years- I couldn’t believe she never saw it in me. She simply recommended a chiropractor that does muscle testing and sells supplements to me. This was not what I had hoped for. So I am learning more and more about it. Nowhere does it say it is a TMS equivalent- I haven’t found anything yet - but it’s definition surely sounds like one. I am still trying to figure it all out. It is very challenging 2 weeks out of the month. Your post helps.

    1. Listen to @GhostlyMarie , @Clover, because she knows what she's talking about in this realm of symptoms.

    2. Trust your instincts when you say that the description of symptoms sounds like TMS. I had to look up what PMDD even is, because that's an acronym that had not been invented when I was still menstruating. Back then it was called PMS. Put the two acronyms side by side and all they do is describe a set of symptoms. A description of symptoms is not a diagnosis, but the medical world came up with PMDD because it sounds like they're taking your suffering more seriously than by using PMS.

Your instincts are right on. IMHO, and as we often joke around here, a bunch of words which only describe the symptoms and tack on the word "Disorder" is, by default, TMS.

For some reason, I'm reminded of this line from Hamlet:
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy

PS: that's the second time today that I've seen a wise husband being quoted :joyful:
