  • My Story

Five years I've suffered with chronic hand pain. It started one day as thumb pain while I was playing guitar and after about a year of seeing a number of doctors and trying physical therapy it would evolve into hand pain and unexplained paresthesias in both arms. All tests including multiple MRI's, X-rays, and Nerve Conduction Studies and Electromyographies have shown nothing out of the ordinary; no structural abnormalities and no explanation for the pain. I've been on anti-inflammatory medicines for months at a time, worn hand braces, even a neck brace, done multiple physical therapy sessions, and am currently trying acupuncture. Nothing has really helped. I am a music major and the pain affected my life so much that I had to switch from playing guitar to singing just so that I could take the two years of required lessons for my major (B.A. in music w/Commercial Music concentration) and graduate. The pain was also a big strain on my relationship with my girlfriend at the time, and the depression and anxiety that resulted as a consequence of it was a big reason for our breakup. I stopped being the happy person she used to know. To this day this still hurts the most. I'm ready to gain my life back and start the next chapter of my life after graduation pain free and a new person; a happy person.

I just wanted to say thank you. I'm currently awaiting for the arrival of The MindBody Prescription. Still experiencing pain, but trying to stay involved every day, even if just a little. Today I did so much more than I have done in a while. This was a great article. Thanks again for taking the time to help.
